Founded in February 2006, the Department of Paediatric Urology at The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) was established as a specialised unit following the growth of expertise in Paediatric care. As a result, the original Department of Paediatric Surgery
was divided into two distinct departments: the Department of Paediatric and Neonatal Surgery and the Department of Paediatric Urology.
Each department focuses on the specialised management of specific conditions, with the Department of Paediatric Urology earning global recognition for its contributions to the field of Paediatric Urology.
Our team, consisting of dedicated healthcare professionals and administrative staff, is committed to improving the health outcomes of infants, children, and adolescents facing disorders of the urinary tract and genitalia. We offer a comprehensive range
of inpatient, outpatient, and investigative services, addressing both operative and non-operative needs. Our department serves the Melbourne metropolitan area and regional Victoria, as well as providing tertiary and quaternary care for patients from
Tasmania, Western Australia, southern New South Wales, and New Zealand.
Education is at the core of our department’s mission. We are actively engaged in undergraduate and postgraduate training, while clinical and experimental research drive our ongoing growth. For those interested in clinical or research opportunities within
the department, we encourage you to reach out to us for more information.
